i’m richie
Richie Blanko is a Puerto Rican Graffiti Artist, muralist, curator, and educator raised in SW Detroit doing graffiti since 2003. He spent his teenage years learning to paint graffiti at what is now known as The Alley Project. He has participated in mural festivals and graffiti events all over the US. In 2022 he was awarded the Tead One artist in residence, and a curating residency at The Alley Project. In 2023 He helped put together the Aerosol Nightmares graffiti jam with Danielle Sistler and others in Detroit . Richie has worked with companies such as Herbalife Nutrition, Delta Airlines, and Discover Puerto Rico. He also leads graffiti-based classes throughout the city with Motor City Street Dance Academy.

In July 2023 Richie Blanko and Danielle Sistler put together and Curated the Aerosol Nightmares Graffiti Jam In Detroit which hosted 77 graffiti artists and muralists in 3 public locations around Detroit. As well as created a social media presence for the event.

2023
August 2023 Richie Blanko Live painted alongside the Motor City Street Dance Academy at the Don Weekend Block Party in Detroit thrown by Big Sean, The Sean Anderson Foundation, and The Boys And Girls Club. Richie painted a temporary graffiti mural as well as collaborated on a piece with Watercolor Connections and signed by Big Sean.

Motor City Street Dance Academy (MCSDA) is a non profit organization founded in 2016 by our executive Director - Benito “Mav-One” Vasquez. Our S.E.E.D. Program (Spreading the Elements Everywhere in Detroit) utilizes our network of organizations, schools, and partners to implement programming inside of those spaces that are closer to clusters of students. Our organization is dedicated to promoting healthy living practices, as well as professional and social-emotional learning development through the lens of Hip-Hop Culture.
